Fair Housing Information

Title VIII of the Civil Rights Action of 1968, also known as the Fair Housing Act, was enacted to guarantee the right of equal opportunity to housing for all Americans.

It is illegal to discriminate in the sale, rental, and financing of housing, and in other housing-related transactions, based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status (including children under the age of 18 living with parents or legal custodian, pregnant women, and people securing custody of children under the age of 18), and handicap (disability).

Fair housing is the policy of the City of Farmington and implementation of the policy requires the positive commitment, involvement and support of each of our citizens.

The City of Farmington is committed to highlight the Fair Housing Act by continuing to address discrimination in our community, to support programs that will educate the public about the right to equal housing opportunities and to plan partnerships with other organizations to help assure every American of their right to fair housing.
