Is your business looking to relocate or expand to a community that will “Jolt” your business journey? Welcome to Farmington — The Nexus of Work and Play. Located in the beautiful Four Corners, Farmington, New Mexico holds a wealth of natural assets, low cost of living, family-friendliness, and support for businesses. Farmington makes up one of four metropolitan statistical areas in New Mexico. Its population is around 46,000 people, but the city serves as the center for commerce, jobs, and retail for some 300,000 residents from the surrounding communities.
WORKFORCE
As a major job center, Farmington has a robust workforce and low cost of labor (Click Here for wages & workforce statistics). Our workforce has years of fabrication, welding, and energy experience that can be put to work for your company.
Workforce training is readily available through San Juan College, whose Center for Workforce Development can customize curriculum to companies' needs to upskill employees.
The State also offers generous assistance for new hires to assist with the cost of training and upskilling employees. The Job Training Incentive Fund can help offset up to 75% of wages for up to 6-months while employees are being trained.
BUSINESS SUPPORT
The City of Farmington values its local employers and works hard to make the development of new employers as easy as possible. We hold weekly "Development Review Committee" meetings that gather our key development, planning, life safety, and utility staff to discuss projects to prepare them for success before they begin. Contact our Planning Department to add your project to an upcoming agenda by calling (505) 599-1333 or email cgibson@fmtn.org.
INCENTIVES
In 2018, the City of Farmington passed a 1/4% Gross Receipts tax specifically for "Community Transformation and Economic Diversification". This CTED fund is dedicated to helping foster new businesses and key quality-of-life infrastructure for the community. This allows us to help supplement or match state LEDA incentives or provide public/private partnerships in our Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA). For a full list of state incentive programs, please visit NMEDD.
